Holiday Car Safety Tips
December 21, 2015 6:00 pmAs you get ready to hit the roads for some last minute Christmas shopping, don’t forget to take a few precautions to make sure that you say safe. Here are a few holiday road safety tips you can use.
Keep Up With Vehicle Repairs
The last thing you want to happen while you’re in route to that last minute sale is for your vehicle to break down or for you to end up in a fender bender because of a vehicle malfunction. Get your tires checked, an oil change, some much-needed repairs, and an inspection to ensure your car is in great condition for the season.
Stay in the Light
No matter which store or establishment you go to, make sure you always park close to the door and in well-lit areas. Most holiday robberies happen because the victims are walking alone in an area that is not well-lit to the back or a far corner of a parking lot. Prevent yourself from becoming a victim by playing it safe.
Use Your Trunk
Keep all gifts, bags, purses and other valuable items locked up in the trunk. Don’t leave them sitting out in the open on the floor and in your seats for others to see. Keeping them in the trunk keeps them safe from prying eyes.
Drive Safely
No matter who’s calling or texting you while you are diving, remember to stay focused on the road and on the drivers’ around you. You can always call and text people after you’ve safely reached your destination. If you feel that you just can’t wait to talk or text someone, do everyone, including yourself a favor and pull over to a safe location on the side of the road to call or text that person back. Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of car accidents. Keep your attention on the road and do your best to minimize distractions to reduce your risk of accidents and injury.
